An rare late 18th / early 19th century English triple weight eight day musical Longcase Clock, movement with overly large upright cylinder, H 28 cm x D 8 cm, chiming on a carillon of fourteen bells at hours ten and ten, and striking the other hours on another, the 15 inch break arch painted dial, with rolling moon, Roman numerals and three hands (minutes, hours, and calendar), the dial signed 'A. Simpson, Cockermouth' and stamped 'High Water at Workington', the dial encased in swan neck hood with brass ball and eagle finial, turned pillars and pierced fretwork to window, raised on large trunk, decorated with chequered inlay and banding, with three weights and pendulum, label to the inside of trunk door, 'Made by (or to the order of) William Swinburn of Workington, Cumberland. about 1780', W 60 cm x H 245 cm x D 35 cm.
